T for Tayshawn x2 & Homework

Months ago, Conny, Kenyon, Tayshawn and I went out to lunch at the Olive Garden. Tayshawn grabbed the drink menu and was looking through it. He would point to pictures and ask his mother "Wus dat?" and she would tell him "Beer. Wine. Juice. Milkshake." After placing our orders, Tayshawn pointed to a glass on the menu and asked "Wus dat?" and Conny says "That's tea."

Tayshawn: I like tea.
*everyone confused (as he's never had tea)*
Tayshawn: T for Tayshawn! :)

Last Saturday, at Kenyon's football game, Ben, Tayshawn and I were sitting in the shade on the bleachers. Conny and Monte were under an umbrella a few rows in front of us. Tayshawn was on my lap, facing me when he asked about my necklace.

A little background: Most of the time, I wear a 4-leaf-clover necklace. For about 2 weeks, every time I'd pick Tayshawn up, he'd ask me what it was. We'd go over the same things each time I'd have him repeat each word and then the whole frase. Finally, I said "Tayshawn, you ask me all the time what this is, don't you remember?" and he hasn't forgotten since. In fact, now he makes ME say each word and then the frase as a whole.

On this particular Saturday, I was wearing the cross necklace of very dear sentimental value, given to me by Ben. Tayshawn asked me "This is the four-leaf-clover?"

Me: No. I'm not wearing the four-leaf-clover today.
Tayshawn: What is it?
M: It's a cross.
T: No it's not.
M: Yes it is.
Ben: Then what is it, Tayshawn?
T: It's a T. For Tayshawn.
B: haha, no it's a cross!
T: A cwoss?
M&B: Yep.
T: oh.

I think he was disappointed to learn that I wasn't wearing a "T for Tayshawn" necklace! :)

In preschool, Tayshawn is now receiving homework since he is getting closer and closer to school age. He absolutely LOVES having homework because he wants to be just like his Bubba (big brother Kenyon) and he gets to do homework like Bubba!

So last week, Tayshawn is working on tracing lines. Kenyon and I are at the table, finishing up dinner, Monte is cleaning up the kitchen and Conny is picking up the living room. Upon completing his line-trace assignment, Tayshawn picks up the packet of homework papers and exclaims at the top of his lungs "Tata, Mommy! I did my homework!" not "TaDa" but "TaTa"...it was so cute! :)
