SnoCones and Living Arrangements

Sometimes the things that are said in the house aren't necessarily bust-a-gut funny, or tear-enducing sweet. Sometimes, they're just plain cute.

Saturday evening, Kenyon played a football game. Tayshawn was still napping, so Conny and Monte headed up to the game and I said I'd bring Tayshawn with me. First of all, he woke up from his nap while I was still in the shower and the poor thing was scared. I heard a door shut and I flew out of the shower to check on him. He was in the hallway, looking confused and distressed. He'd obviously been around the house looking for his parents. I hugged him, told him it was okay, gave him some juice and put on Blue's Clues so I could finish getting ready.

I was supposed to grab him dinner on our way to the game, but he wasn't hungry and wasn't interested in anything I had to offer him. When I asked him "Fine, what do YOU want for dinner?", he said "A SnoCone!" I texted conny and asked if the concession stand at the game was selling SnoCones and if not, would Tayshawn like a Jamba Juice (same concept, right?! in all actuality, I was craving a Jamba! lol) Conny texted back saying no to the SnoCones but yes to the Jamba.

I told Tayshawn, "They don't have SnoCones at the game, but we're gonna stop and get special snocones on our way, okay?"

T: Okay...alissa?
Me: Yes?
T: Wha kinna special snocone??
M: A strawberry one!
T: *huge gasp* A stwabelly one?!??!
M: Yep! We gotta pick it up before we go to bubba's game, k?
T: Okay! We're gonna get stwabelly snocones! *huge grin*

The way he says strawberry (stwabelly) is one of my favorite things he says. :)

Since I moved in with this amazing family, I've been in and out of my relationship with Ben. Ben would come and stay weekends in our home and the boys absolutely LOVE him, as does he love them.

Every couple of months, Kenyon would ask me if me and Ben were going to get married. Most of the time, the answer was "I hope so." or "One day." or "That's the plan." He'd follow that up with "Are you guys going to live with us when you're married?" which was usually answered with laughter and "No, we'll probably get our own place."

This last time that Ben and I went our separate ways, Kenyon asked me "Do you think that Ben still loves us?" which nearly broke my heart. A few weeks later, driving home from football and cheer pratices, Kenyon asked me "Melissa, how long are you going to live with us?"

Me: Uhm...I'm not sure.
Conny: As long as she wants to, Kenyon.
K: I think you should live with us FOREVER!
C: One day she's going to get married and have a baby...they're going to want a house of their own.
K: You can ALL live with us! Even your baby!
Me: Where would the baby sleep??
K: *thinking...then lightbulb!* He can sleep with Tayshawn! (then, in the most serious, sincere voice I've ever heard) But he might get squooshed, Tayshawn moves around alot.
Me & C: bahahahahahahaha...

It was just so cute how excited he got when he "figured out" where the baby could sleep, then seemed very concerned about him getting squished under a tossing and turning 3-year-old. :)

These boys never cease to amaze me! I hope they know how much they're loved!!
