Pete and Repeat...

Everyone's heard that rhyme before, right? You hear this story about a boy named Pete and his brother named Repeat. You end up instructing the person telling the story to repeat everything and it goes on and on until someone says "OK Stop!"

In our household, we have our very own Repeat. Little mister Tayshawn is our own personal echo.

A couple weeks ago, prior to cheer camp, Conny was doing laundry. Loads and loads of laundry later, she walks back to the laundry room and proclaims "I HATE laundry!" Tayshawn, at the dinner table with me, says, "YEAH! I HATE laundry!" From the back of the house, Conny rhetorically asks, "Tayshawn, will you stop repeating everything I say?" and very matter-of-fact he tells her "No." :)

Prior to that, Conny was running out the door with Tayshawn and realized that she had forgotten something in the house. Absent mindedly, she turns back and says "Oh! Crap man, I forgot something..." and right on her heels, Tayshawn follows with "Yeah, crap man!" :)

Just two nights ago, as Conny diligently picks the peas out of her pot pie, Tayshawn snuggles up next to her looking for some eats. He's anxious for a bite and keeps telling her "Mommy, dere's no mo peas!" She continues to find peas and says "You'd think they could fill this up with more meat or celery or something...there's a crap load of peas in this thing!" and knowing what was coming, we turned to Tayshawn in time to hear him say "Yeah! A crap load!" :)

One of the funniest "repeats" to date: Conny hopped in the shower after a long, busy day. Her 3-year-old son doesn't really care what she's up to, and walked in. He tells her "Mommy! I'm hungry." She asks him what he wants and he says "UHM...???...a s'lami sammich." She tells him she'll get it for him when she gets out. He continues to tell her "Mommy! I'm thirsty!"...
Conny: Okay, Tayshawn! I'll get you something in a minute...(growing increasingly irritated)
Tayshawn: MOMMY! I want my truck! (which is located in the shower)
Conny: (out of the shower, attempting to get dressed) Do you want a salami sandwich or do you want your flippin truck??!?
Tayshawn: (in the same growling tone as mommy) I want my flippin truck!
Conny attempts to finish getting dressed amid laughter...Tayshawn is patiently waiting. From the bathroom floor, Conny hears (in a sweet, sing-song voice): "Mooommmmyy...I want my flippin truucckk!" :)
