Welcome! This blog idea came to me over the weekend when my best friend joked about keeping a blog to document the funny things I say. I have my fair share of comical, accidental "blonde" moments and while it would be a funny blog to read, it dawned on me that my friends' children say SO MANY funny or sweet things SO often!
We're constantly sharing stories about the time Kenyon had us laughing 'til we cried...and how Tayshawn's defiance makes the rest of us fall out with laughter. I've often thought to myself "someone needs to write these things down!" so now I'm going to! Check back often, as these kids crack us up regularly!
Let's start with a little background...Monte and Conny are a happily married couple, raising and supporting their family of 4. Kenyon is their 9 year old superstar son and Tayshawn is their 3 year old stand up comedian. They graciously accepted me into their home and I've been renting a room from them for over 10 months now. The boys often refer to me as their big sister and it melts my heart. This blog is dedicated to posting their funny sayings as well as their sweet and loving comments. I'll start with a couple of recent comedies:
Last week, Conny and I flew home from cheer camp out of town. [side note: cheer camp involved 4 days out in the sun from 8 am-9 pm] Kenyon plays junior league football and had just gotten home from practice. He refused to make eye contact with me as he walked in; he went straight back to hop in the shower. Conny and I had picked up Taco Bell on our way home from the airport and Monte and I sat down at the dinner table to eat. Kenyon sat to my left at the square table and immediately bowed his head to say his prayers. As he looked up from his prayers, he made quiet conversation with his dad. He turned to me to ask a question...his eyes grew wider and he had to look away and look back to make sure what he was seeing was real. In a very concerened, extremely sincere voice, Kenyon asked me, "What happened to your face??!?!" Monte and I nearly fell out of our seats, we were laughing so hard. I explained to Kenyon that while at cheer camp, i had been in the sun and got a funny tan line on my face from my sun glasses. He looked very confused, and just said "oh." I'll give it to the kid, my tan was pretty funny looking! :)
Last night, I passed along a message that my exboyfriend (who was also very close with this family and who the boys still love very much) said "hi" to Tayshawn. Tayshawn turns to me at the mention of my ex's name and says "I I...I can't find Ben." Tayshawn has started this stuttering that some say is just a phase. It makes alot of what he says that much cuter.
Me: Well, he doesn't live here
Tayshawn: Why? (he is asking this question much more frequently!)
Me: Because he lives at home...at HIS home
Tayshawn: But buuut he live in YOUR room?
Me: *giggle* no, Tayshawn, he doesn't live in my room.
Tayshawn: oh. *long pause* but I want him to so much.
Me: SO much?
Tayshawn: Yeah, I want Ben to live in your room.
Me: *laughing* ok, I'll tell him :)
The comedy and heart warming statements are DAILY. I'll post as often as I remember to! Have a happy Monday, readers!
